CODESTORM Hack is a week-long virtual hackathon hosted by Code Crunch at Florida International University. It's open to students from all universities and all majors. The event challenges participants to build innovative projects based on specific track challenges in just 7 days, with mentorship, workshops, and opportunities to win recognition.
All university students from ANY institution worldwide are welcome to participate! You don't need to be a computer science major - we welcome students from all disciplines and backgrounds. The hackathon is designed to be inclusive for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced coders.
You can register as an individual or with a team of up to 4 members. If you're registering solo, don't worry! We have a team formation channel in our Discord server where you can connect with other participants before the hackathon begins. Building with a team is encouraged but not required.
No! CODESTORM Hack is completely free for all participants. We are committed to making this event accessible to everyone.
You can build any project that aligns with one of our 16 tracks. We welcome web applications, mobile apps, hardware projects, data analysis, AI models, games, and more. The specific challenges will be revealed when the hackathon begins on May 19, but you can start planning your approach based on the track themes.
Each track will have a specific challenge that will be revealed when the hackathon begins on May 19. You can choose up to 2 tracks to focus your project on. The Tech Unicorn Track (Startup Pitch Arena) details are already available, while the other track challenges will remain a mystery until the hackathon starts.
Participants will have access to mentors through Discord, virtual workshops, starter code templates, technical documentation, and more. These resources are designed to help you overcome challenges and build successful projects. You'll receive all necessary links and access upon registration.
Projects will be evaluated based on innovation, technical complexity, adherence to track challenges, presentation quality, and overall impact. Each track will have dedicated judges with expertise in the respective field. For complete judging criteria, please visit our submissions requirements page.
Track winners will receive recognition certificates, promotion on Code Crunch social media channels, and LinkedIn features. The Tech Unicorn Track winner will receive additional exposure through a special video feature. Most importantly, all participants gain valuable experience, portfolio projects, and networking opportunities.
